Starting in September 2023, FLIP Fabrique and Ex Machina will launch the creation of Arène – Lutte Cirque Théâtre [working title].
This major new work, directed by Robert Lepage, will combine the spectacular with the exuberant in order to recreate the passionate atmosphere of wrestling galas.
Wrestling is like theater but amplified: everything is grandiose and intense; Good and Evil clash there, embodied by caricatural characters exalted by the reactions of the public, who themselves find a powerful outlet there.
In Arene (working title), Robert Lepage, Ex Machina and Flip Fabrique will offer you a revisited wrestling gala, playing with the conventions of theatre, circus and wrestling. The wrestling ring becomes a trampoline, while the side cables serve as wires for tightrope walkers or the announcer’s microphone becomes an aerial acrobatic device.
The first performances of Arene (working title) will take place at the Le Diamant theater in Quebec City in the spring of 2024. The whole thing will continue its tour throughout Quebec, before traveling around the world.
